The portions are generous, often leaving guests happily satisfied but perhaps wishing they had ordered a smaller size. The pea fritters receive notable mentions, and the warm, friendly service creates a welcoming environment that keeps customers returning. While The Red Mullet garners many positive reviews, some guests note the sometimes overwhelming portion sizes, especially with the chips. A few have stated that the standard chip size might defeat even the heartiest eaters. A handful of visitors expect a quicker turnaround during busy periods, especially during peak lunchtime hours. Additionally, a few attendees desired a broader selection of sauces or dipping options to enhance their meals further. Overall, these critiques are minimal compared to the extensive praise it regularly receives.
We come a couple of times a year to Devon from the Midlands. We always have your meal. Best fish ive tasted you could taste the sea yummy. And live the pea fritter. And Edward says thank you for the sausage
We ordered 6 fish and chips and they were great. But the portion size defeated us. Next time I'm ordering small chips. Multiple fish choices is always appreciated
Went in this evening for some tea and there was a young girl behind the counter. Her customer service was outstanding. I can't fault her. I had large cod which was delicious and chips which were standard (not a bad thing) my partner had Jumbo battered sausage which was nice. The highlight though was definitely the customer service from the young lady phenomenal 👍
We had fish and chips last week and was delicious 😋
We’ve been going to the Red Mullet in Ashburton for many years. Always great quality, well cooked chips, fresh fish and crispy batter. Customer service is always second to none! I’m sure we’ll be visiting for many years to come 👍🏼 Highly recommended 😊
Me and my other half came here for the first time yesterday evening and it certainly won't be our last. The food and service was absolutely superb and we will definitely be repeat customers! Coming in at 8pm we weren't sure what to expect (Usually in a chippy, you tend to get the dribs and drabs at the end of the day that have been sitting out for a while don't you?!) - but the fish and chips were still fresh and I just wanted to say what a great job the staff were doing there. We are very much looking forward to our next visit; I'm not going to lie, it was that good that we are tempted to go again tonight!
A great fish and chip shop. The service was quick and staff friendly. Food was good and reasonably priced.
